Is it a toy, a pet or a dangerous weapon? Let’s set off on a journey to find an endangered child. A soldier, in a spur of a moment when intoxicated by victory, gives her a toy from his armoury. The wild chase after the girl with the tin mine playfully points out the absurdity of war conflicts, but also the child’s boundless trust in us, adults.
Slovak with English subtitles.
About the theatre:
PIKI Theatre (acronym for "Suspiciously Ideal Nomadic Initiative" in Slovak) is an independent theatre founded by the husband and wife, Katarína Aulitisová and Ľubomír Piktor, graduates of the Puppetry Department of the Prague Academy of Performing Arts. The defining features of their work are dramaturgy without infantilism, experience with clowning and pantomime, inventiveness, dynamics and puppetry mastery. PIKI is unmistakable with its signature puppetry poetics and distinctive acting interpretation. It emphasizes an open approach to children, treating them as partners, offering them more complex themes, combining different means and trying to do it all with great care, in a comedic and yet with all earnestness. PIKI often performs abroad and wins awards at international festivals. They collaborate on various art and media projects in Slovakia and abroad.
